Surprisingly, it has been nearly two full years since Rory and I began podcasting. Initially, it was just a fun thing that we could do on the weekends, inspired by the System Mastery Podcast, which we still look up to today. Back then (then being early 2016), Rory and I attended the same school, meaning communication regarding when and where we were to record was insanely simple. Now, Rory and I have moved to different schools, which partially explains why we haven't put out an episode since June of 2016. Writing down that date seems just as crazy, considering our passion for recording and playing D&D has not diminished one bit.
We ran into a number of issues as we began seeking recording options rolling into 2017. Firstly, our premium plan for our website provider, Weebly, had finally expired, meaning we had nowhere to store our episodes. Second, realizing that recording with one singular microphone that had a small pickup range was very difficult and frustrating, we had to put forth the money to buy a second Blue Snowball. This led us to our third problem; adjusting to using two microphones and discovering how that would work on our recording software. Rory and I had recorded a long and quite interesting Oregon Trail episode, but unfortunately had to cut it after realizing that one of our mics had cut out two minutes into recording. Curse you, overused USB ports!
From what I have recalled regarding the past two years, I have begun to notice a recurring theme. Whenever an obstacle gets in the way of creating or presenting our content, we've just given up and moved on to whatever other fantasy currently occupied our minds. And while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it should be noted that two years of work should not go to waste. In fact, I honestly believe that we have the potential to grow and become a real voice in the podcasting community. We have the connections, we have the equipment, we just need the time and the grit to implement everything together. I personally need to discuss with Rory how the two of us rekindle a consistent output of episodes and new content.
With that said, as we discover how to get through our beloved passion, you could make things exponentially easier by donating via our Patreon. If you are not familiar with our campaign, we are trying to get a bit of money to renew our website plan subscription, as well as a new domain (something without the .weebly at the end would be awesome). So, if you've got ears to listen and money to give, we would love your support.
